Abstract

Introduction: This summary highlights the importance of education focused on developing socio-emotional skills in schools. These skills include empathy, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication, decision-making, self-awareness, self-control, and intrapersonal motivation. Also known as emotional intelligence, they play a fundamental role in individuals' personal growth, influencing their success in various life areas, including the school, family, and community environments. Furthermore, it discusses the variety of terms used to describe these skills, such as 21st-century skills, character education, and non-cognitive skills, which transcend these boundaries. The study analyzes the connection between socio-emotional skills and the teaching process, recognizing that learning involves more than just intellectual aspects. Understanding how these skills impact academic performance and students' futures is crucial for improving the quality of education, playing a transformative role. The main objective is to develop approaches that promote the growth of emotional and social skills, contributing to high-quality education. General Objectives: Emphasize the relevance of socio-emotional competencies in the educational context and illustrate how enhancing these competencies can improve both academic performance and students' futures, thereby promoting higher-quality education. Specific Objectives: Highlight the connection between the development of socio-emotional skills and academic performance, demonstrating how improving these skills can contribute to a more effective school environment and prepare students to successfully face life's challenges. Methodology: The methodology applied integrates the study of literary sources, gathering necessary information, content and argument elaboration, final overview, and meticulous review to ensure comprehension and credibility. Results and Discussion: The study investigated how socio-emotional skills effectively impact student performance, considering personal progress, and demonstrating the importance of integrating socio-emotional skills into the academic curriculum, going beyond traditional academic outcomes. Conclusion: Certainly, the consolidation and strengthening of socio-emotional skills not only enhance the educational experience but also provide students with the ability to adapt to different circumstances. Thus, within the school context, it creates a productive, strong, and healthy environment, enabling future experiences that build upon what has been offered to them.
