Abstract

Introduction: Currently, entrepreneurship is recognized as a tool for solving problems across various organizations. Hence, the importance of teaching entrepreneurship in basic education arises, enabling the formation of a self-sufficient society capable of tackling challenges, whether organizational or otherwise, thereby contributing to the development of quality education. Teaching entrepreneurship pertains to the social culture that encourages the pursuit, sustenance, and strengthening of values present in our society. In 2021, the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) included a discipline called Entrepreneurial Education. It became the responsibility of each state to develop norms for implementing entrepreneurship in the curriculum and ensuring its applicability in schools. Results and Discussions: The BNCC advocates that all student competencies can be enhanced through teaching and learning approaches aligned with entrepreneurial competencies and skills, involving participation in school projects, which also include life projects as defined in the BNCC document. Therefore, entrepreneurial pedagogy represents a new way of continuously thinking about the teaching-learning process, utilizing integrative educational foundations and a methodological didactic proposal of broad scope and practical feasibility. In this context, entrepreneurial thinking is innate in human beings, but if not stimulated during childhood, this capacity diminishes due to exposure to "anti-entrepreneurial" values in education, social relationships, and the conservative cultural framework to which we are subjected. Entrepreneurial activities enable individuals to develop skills across various domains and provide opportunities for teachers to engage in interdisciplinary activities in schools, thereby enhancing pedagogical practices and facilitating learning. Objective: This study aimed to analyze how the topic of entrepreneurship is addressed in municipal public education in the city of Icó, Brazil. It aimed to raise awareness about the importance of teaching this discipline and provide educators with the necessary tools for its application. Additionally, it aimed to critically reflect on the implementation of entrepreneurship in the social context, discussing the impact brought about by entrepreneurship education based on educators' practices. Methodology: The research employed an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, focusing on a literature review. Through this research, we aim to highlight the importance of teaching entrepreneurship in basic education.
