Abstract

Introduction: Dance, as an artistic expression, stands out for its inclusive nature, providing a unique form of physical and emotional communication, body awareness and stimulation of creativity. This interconnection between dance and social inclusion proves to be fundamental, granting autonomy and raising the self-esteem of practitioners, regardless of their limitations. Objective: This study seeks to explore the significant relationship between the practice of dance and the promotion of social inclusion, highlighting that dance is accessible to all people, under any circumstances, allowing the exploration of new emotions, habits and pleasures. Methodology: This literature review was based on scientific analyses, book consultations, and virtual searches were carried out on the Scielo, Google Scholar and Capes Platform platforms. Results and discussions: The analysis of the selected studies revealed a consistent convergence in relation to the significant benefits associated with the practice of dance to promote a healthier and more inclusive life. Despite the persistence of social stigmas towards people with disabilities, dance is emerging as an effective tool not only in stimulating physical activity, but also as a vital means of artistic expression, especially for those who face challenges in verbal communication. Physical gains, notably improved resistance and flexibility, coexist harmoniously with the emotional and social benefits derived from regular dance practice. The uniqueness of expression through dance reveals itself as a vehicle for overcoming and self-discovery, standing out not just as an exercise, but as a form of communication. Furthermore, the adaptation of specific resources and strategies to meet the needs of this group of people with disabilities was a crucial point observed in the studies analyzed. Personalizing approaches, creating inclusive environments, and considering diverse adapted dance modalities not only expands access, but also enriches the experience, providing an inclusive and welcoming space for artistic expression. The link between dance, overcoming stigmas and adapting practices to meet the specific needs of these practitioners reinforces the assertion that dance transcends physical and social limits, playing a fundamental role in building a more inclusive and sensitive society. diversities.
