A Narrative Bibliographic Analysis On Social Awareness And Racism Through The Eyes Of Rapper Emicida's Song Ismália
Abstract
The themes of "social consciousness" and "racism" always require debates that are based on the search for an end to the discrimination of the constantly marginalized black population. The discussion around racism and social conscience goes beyond academia and politics, and also presents itself in the minutiae of the arts. In musical artistic productions criticism and discussions are found induced by the experiences and statistical facts of everyday life, and in the song "Ismália", by the Brazilian rapper Emicida, this is presented in a manner pertinent to the theme. From a narrative bibliographic analysis, using relevant studies of Social Psychology, it was sought to establish a dialectical relationship with the lyrics of the above-mentioned song from the concepts of social consciousness, prejudice, racism, alienation, and ideology. Some passages of the song infer about the ways of searching for freedom from the dominant forms of power over the marginalized people from the social conscience of the relations of violence and oppression. The song presents the hopeful aspect of overcoming these forms of discrimination through social awareness that leads to the participation of the black population in the politics of subjectivation. From this, it is understood that artistic and cultural expressions such as music are powerful instruments of debate and criticism of realities and systems of oppression.
